Get ready, Pittsburgh! The NFL has just announced that our city will be hosting the 2026 NFL Draft, presented by Bud Light. This exciting event will take place in the heart of Pittsburgh, utilizing iconic locations like Point State Park and Acrisure Stadium, the proud home of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

This announcement came from the NFL Spring League Meeting in Nashville, where Pittsburgh’s impressive bid proposal was reviewed and approved by the Fan Engagement & Major Events Advisory Committee. The selection is a testament to Pittsburgh’s dynamic spirit and rich football heritage.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “The NFL Draft is one of the biggest, most-anticipated sporting events of the year, and we’re thrilled to partner with the Pittsburgh Steelers and VisitPITTSBURGH for our 2026 event. We have a unique opportunity to spotlight this wonderful community on a global stage, benefiting Pittsburgh’s economy and entertaining football fans from all markets. We know this pride of Pennsylvania will shine bright in 2026.”

Governor Josh Shapiro echoed these sentiments, highlighting Pittsburgh’s transformation into one of the most dynamic cities in the country and its historical significance as the birthplace of professional football. “Today, Pittsburgh has established itself as one of the most dynamic cities in the country – and as the birthplace of professional football, it is the best choice to host the Draft,” he said.

The NFL Draft is expected to bring a substantial economic boost to Pittsburgh. With over 50 million viewers worldwide and hundreds of thousands of devoted fans attending in person, the event promises to be a major highlight for the city. Allegheny County Executive Sara Innamorato emphasized the opportunity to showcase Pittsburgh’s cultural gems and hospitality, while Mayor Ed Gainey spoke about the chance to unite the city’s neighborhoods and highlight Pittsburgh as a welcoming and thriving community.

Throughout the three-day event, Pittsburgh will be buzzing with a variety of activities. The NFL Draft Experience, an ultimate fan festival, will be free for fans and include immersive exhibits and games, photo opportunities with the Vince Lombardi Trophy, a youth-focused Play 60 Zone, exclusive merchandise at NFL Shop presented by Visa, and autographs from NFL players and legends. Additionally, there will be community events and a Concert Series presented by Bud Light.

Jerad Bachar, President & CEO of VisitPITTSBURGH, expressed his excitement: “Being awarded the 2026 NFL Draft is a testament to Pittsburgh’s rich football legacy and a renowned recognition of our city’s vibrant culture and welcoming spirit. Momentum for Pittsburgh as the 2026 host city is only just beginning, and we look forward to working alongside our regional partners to plan and execute a world-class event that rolls out the black and gold carpet for football fans from across the country and around the world.”

Hosting the NFL Draft marks a full circle moment for Pittsburgh, as the city hosted the first Player Selections Meeting at the Fort Pitt Hotel in 1936, which laid the groundwork for the NFL Draft. Steelers President Art Rooney II shared his excitement about the event, emphasizing the opportunity to showcase Pittsburgh’s culture, football history, and traditions on a national and international stage.
