Halloween Mocktails in Pittsburgh’s Strip District

The Chipped Fang, located within Bold Escape Rooms on select dates from now through Halloween, serves as both a secret lair for vampires of all times and kinds but also as a seasonal sober space for Halloween fans of all ages.  Each ticket includes:

• Entrance into a highly themed gothic lair full of surprises and photo opportunities
• Participation in an interactive production featuring performers and playful challenges
• Three bespoke and and delicious non-alocholic mocktails.

Note: beverages contain Citrus, Apple, Cinnamon, other spices, Ginger, Gentian, Pomegranate. Some of the ingredients are manufactured in the same facilities as tree nuts, sesame, and milk.

So what is a Mocktail Experience exactly? And how is it different that the many Halloween pop-up bars that appear every year?

An immersive mocktail experience is all about creating a captivating environment that goes beyond just drinks. Imagine stepping into a space where every detail is designed to transport you into a different world. These experiences focus on storytelling and engagement, using elements like themed rooms, interactive characters, and interactive challenges and puzzles. The mocktails themselves are crafted with as much care and creativity as cocktails, featuring complex flavors, fresh ingredients, and striking presentations that make the experience feel just as special without alcohol. In contrast, a traditional pop-up bar is more about the “here today, gone tomorrow” vibe. While they often have a fun theme and unique menu, pop-up bars focus on providing a casual, temporary drinking spot rather than an all-encompassing experience. The atmosphere might be lively and themed, but it’s often geared toward enjoying quick social interactions with minimal emphasis on the drink being an “experience” itself. Pop-up bars are great for trying new drinks and meeting people, but they typically don’t dive into the immersive and interactive elements that mocktail experiences do.

This opportunity for interactivity and immersive story-telling was particularly compelling to the design and creative teams for Bold Escape Rooms and ScareHouse, so we decided to take a big leap and launch Pittsburgh’s first-ever immersive mocktail experience! We’ve converted the special events space at Bold Escape Rooms into The Chipped Fang: a secret lair for vampires of all kinds and times!

These spaces are welcoming for people who are sober-curious, abstaining for health reasons, or simply looking for a fun night out without the buzz. The focus on creativity and connection, rather than alcohol, creates a different kind of nightlife experience—one that’s refreshing, inclusive, and just as enjoyable.

While our escape rooms are still intended for slightly older audiences, we’ve designed The Chipped Fang as something that all ages can enjoy!

Everything about this production is new and original, all created by a team of local artists and actors working together to create something unlike any other offerings in Pittsburgh this haunt season.  We would LOVE for this experience to become a new Halloween tradition in the Strip District and hope to see here soon!
